Frequently asked questions
For Pre-Matric scholarship (Class 9-10), the family income limit is ₹1,00,000/year for ALL categories including SC/ST. This is stricter than the post-matric limit. Make sure your income certificate shows income below ₹1 lakh.
Generally no. The UP Scholarship rules require that you have passed your previous year exam to apply for the next year. If you have a back paper or compartment, you are typically not eligible until you clear it. Contact your college scholarship nodal officer to confirm your specific situation.
Yes, but only under the “Post-Matric Outside State” category. You must be a UP domicile holder studying in a recognised institution in another state. The same income limits apply. Apply through the UP Scholarship portal and select the Outside State category.
It depends. The restriction is on receiving two government scholarships from the same department simultaneously. A college-level merit scholarship or private scholarship is generally different. However, if you receive any state or central government scholarship, you cannot receive UP Scholarship at the same time. Consult your college nodal officer to clarify.
OTR (One Time Registration) is a one-time Aadhaar-based registration mandatory from 2026-27 onwards. You do it once and use the same OTR number every year. Complete OTR at scholarship.up.gov.in before the portal opens in July. If you registered in previous years, use your existing credentials and complete OTR when prompted.
