For families with no stable income. 35 kg grain per family per month at ₹1–₹3/kg. Covers landless labourers, destitute persons, elderly with no support, disabled, and widows with no income.

Priority Household (BPL) — Below Poverty Line
For families below the state poverty line. 5 kg per person per month at subsidised rates (wheat ₹2/kg, rice ₹3/kg). Covers 75% of rural and 50% of urban UP population under NFSA.

Above Poverty Line — Limited Benefits
For families above poverty line. Limited or no subsidised foodgrain under NFSA. Card mainly useful as government ID and address proof for school admissions, bank accounts, and other official purposes.

Apply online at fcs.up.gov.in — click “Apply for New Ration Card”. Fill in family details, income, and upload documents. Alternatively, visit your tehsil Supply Office (DSO) with all original documents. After submission, a field verification is done by a revenue officer before the card is issued.
Visit your nearest Fair Price Shop (ration shop) or Common Service Centre (CSC / Jan Seva Kendra). Bring your original Aadhaar card and ration card. Biometric verification is done on the spot using a fingerprint device. Aadhaar-ration card linking is mandatory to continue receiving subsidised grain benefits.
Yes. Under the One Nation One Ration Card (ONORC) scheme, you can use your UP ration card at any Fair Price Shop in India. This is especially useful for migrant workers. You need to authenticate with your Aadhaar biometric at the FPS in the other state.
Visit your tehsil Supply Office with the original ration card, Aadhaar of the new member, and proof of relationship (birth certificate for newborn, marriage certificate for spouse). Apply through fcs.up.gov.in or offline at the DSO. Changes reflect within 30 days after verification.
