DigiShakti is a new initiative and website launched by the Government of Uttar Pradesh in 2021 to promote digital literacy and technical empowerment for the youth in the State. According to the official release, built around the vision of the national initiative of Digital India, DigiShakti aims at preparing the students with the right set of digital tools, skills as well as visible government services and bridge the digital divide, predominantly existent in rural India.

eKYC (Electronic Know Your Customer) is mandatory for students to receive their free tablet or smartphone. Here’s how the Digi Shakti eKYC process works:
Steps to Complete DigiShakti eKYC:

- Click on the “Student Corner” or Meri Pehchan button
- Enter your Aadhaar Number and verify using OTP
- Fill in the required details like name, college, course, and session
- Submit the form for institute verification
🛑 Note: Only after successful eKYC verification can a student be added to the Digi Shakti Student List for device distribution.

- In early 2024, Asian Law College (Noida) distributed tablets to law students under Digi Shakti on February 17, 2024. The initiative was welcomed by students and aligned with the vision of an Aatmanirbhar Bharat .
- Government polytechnics report high distribution rates. For instance, Government Polytechnic Sarsai Rath (Hamirpur district) provided tablets to over 97 out of 118 students in 2023–24.
